Virtual Therapy for Florida, Missouri, & South Carolina Residents
If you're a resident of Florida, Missouri, or South Carolina you are eligible for virtual (aka tele-health, remote therapy, or online) therapy services that are provided by Inspired Hope Counseling. Virtual therapy is a convenient way to access counseling services from the comfort of your home or office space without having to commute for your session. It's a wonderful way for you to access the care you need with reduced time and no travel.
Virtual therapy incorporates traditional counseling services through the use of HIPAA compliant, videoconferencing software. It's safe and confidential. Think of Skype, IG video call, or Facetime; it's the equivalent concept of these platforms except it's fully safe and confidential as previously stated.
Here are some frequently asked questions that may be helpful:
What is Virtual Counseling/Therapy?
Virtual counseling is also called internet counseling, tele-health, online, or distance counseling. Virtual therapy is counseling conducted via video-conference or telephone in lieu of face-to-face in-office counseling. It is confidential and HIPAA secure using a videoconferencing platform specifically designed for therapy. Many people prefer tele-health counseling because it saves time by not having to commute, can be done in the privacy or your own home, and it also can be utilized while on a break from work or school.
How Does Virtual Counseling Work?
If you are interested in counseling online, a phone consultation with your prospective therapist, Brittni Harris-Kelchner, will be set up to determine if your struggles and needs are appropriate and you have the necessary technology to participate. You will then receive the intake paperwork via an online portal that you will complete. At this point, your virtual session is confirmed and you will be provided with a link via email that will give you access to the video call for the scheduled day and time of your appointment.
Is Virtual Counseling Confidential?
Yes. Inspired Hope Counseling uses a Telehealth platform that is HIPAA compliant and secure. It is specifically designed for Telehealth/Online therapy. The same laws of confidentiality apply to Telehealth counseling as to any other type of counseling, so you are not compromising confidentiality by engaging in Telehealth sessions.
Who Can Benefit From Virtual Counseling?
Inspired Hope Counseling provides virtual counseling to adults. Some providers choose to allow children and adolescents to also received services; however, this is not something offered by Inspired Hope Counseling. A referral to someone who does can be provided! Also, if a client is having thoughts of suicide, or their functioning is seriously impaired by symptoms, Telehealth is not appropriate. A referral to an in-office therapist and psychiatrist would be provided in lieu of virtual counseling. If you are unsure whether you are a good fit for Telehealth services, Brittni would be happy to speak with you to help determine this.
